My turn to jump on the “my first Frios” storytime trend. Before getting into the popsicle business in January, I didn’t even know what Frios was. Well, let me backtrack. I had heard of it before and had seen the trailer on Old Shell Rd. here in Mobile where our CEO Cliff got started, but that’s about as much of Frios that I knew about. People obviously loved this product because I always saw that trailer super busy and it always had a line at the window. I knew it had to be some sort of food snack or treat, but had no idea it was going to be a popsicle. One thing that I do know is that I had been missing out on the best popsicles I have ever eaten in my life. I was just delaying the inevitable.
After I joined the Frios corporate team, the first Frios I tasted was the caramel sea salt pop. Let me precede that by saying I am a major sweet and salty fan. I love sweets and I love salt and putting the two together is probably the best thing that food has ever done. Frios has nailed that combination with the caramel sea salt pop. First, the texture is so creamy and luxurious, every single bite melts in your mouth. The flavor is out of this world. Strong and sweet caramel flavor with the perfect hint of sea salt throughout every single bite. I can still remember taking that first bite and just being mind blown. Disappointed in myself, I thought, “How could I have gone so long without even trying these dang things?” I think I ended up eating about two popsicles a day the first few weeks I worked here. I mean, what better way to get familiar with your own product, right?
The caramel sea salt remains my favorite Frios flavor to this day. There have been some other flavors that give caramel sea salt a run for its money, but I don’t think it will ever be dethroned.
