In honor of National Key Lime Pie Day, My first experience with Frios Gourmet Pops came well before I ever had a clue my career would take me into gourmet pops and selling happiness for a living. I was volunteering with a local non-profit organization for their Dragon Boat Festival. It is their biggest fundraiser of the year and brought around 5,000 people out to paddle, participate, and spectate to support their main cause. It was early June along the gulf coast and one of the hottest days of the year. Over and over, I kept hearing people say, ‘you’ve got to try a Frios.’ As I finally made it to their spot, I was struck by the line, but it was worth the wait. As It was my turn, I saw my favorite dessert of all time: Key Lime Pie. I could have never expected it would be that good, complete with graham cracker crust inside.
Backstory aside, the key lime pie pop is delicious. If you were blindfolded, you would think that you have just eaten a piece of actual key lime pie. It is that good. Our key lime pie pop is so rich and creamy, has lime zest throughout, and even has a graham cracker crust center to add a little crunch to the creamy key lime. The texture contrast on this pop is something worth mentioning on its own. The key lime pie pop was the first Frios I ever had and to this day it remains my favorite flavor that we have ever produced. It also remains one of Frios’ top-selling flavors across all locations in the US.
